Finding Guidance
Get Help From a Higher Source

Connecting to Your Spirit Guides

You are never alone. You are surrounded by beings of pure spirit and energy who are connected to you through your higher consciousness. You can receive guidance from these spiritual beings by setting an intention to meet your Spirit Guide. Then you can use one of the following methods to reach out to these beings of higher consciousness.

Guided Meditation

You can use a guided meditation to open the door to allow your Guide to appear and communicate with you. In this sense, the term, "guided meditation," means to go into meditation with a specific purpose or intention in mind. You then use visualization, imagination, picturing or pretending to travel to a special safe place where you will meet and communicate with your guide.

The process is not difficult. It just takes practice.
It also requires some focus.

A Guided Meditation usually takes from 15 to 20 minutes. You could create your own process, using your visualization or imagination techniques.

Shamanic Journeying

You may have only thought of Shamanic Journeying as something performed by a trained Shaman as part of a healing ritual. While that is certainly the most typical use of Shamanic Journeying, it is not the only benefit.

You can use Shamanic Journeying to meet and consult with your Power Animal, animal spirits, your Spirit Guide and other guides who can answer your questions and help you on your path to living an enlightened life.

It is, however, a more complex process. There are a number of books and information on the Internet specifically about the Shaman's way. If you are a beginner, you might want to look into "Shamanic Journeying - A Beginner's Guide" by Sandra Ingerman. The book also includes a CD of drumming to help you take your journey. It is available from Amazon.com and other booksellers.

Prayer

There have been numerous case studies of seemingly miraculous healings through prayer circles. You have probably prayed at some time in your life. You may still use prayer to ask for help and guidance today.

The key to prayer is to find the emotion and feelings behind the prayer. Not the words. The words, the position, the place or atmosphere in which you pray are the rituals to get you to the feeling place.

Whether you call it Infinite Spirit, the Universe, Divine Matrix, Higher Consciousness or God, the greater power that exists beyond our physical world does not respond to language. It responds to feelings, to our emotions.

For example, if you pray, "Please help me. My life is a mess and I don't know how to fix it," your words are asking for help but your emotions are focused on your pain. You will attract more pain.

If, however, you pray, "Please help me. I know that I live in an abundant Universe. I know that I am deserving of all the abundance the Universe has to give. I am willing to receive it," your words can help you feel and believe in the abundance of the Universe. Once you feel it, you will begin to receive it. It may not come in the form you expected. It may come as an inspired thought or action to take. But your prayer will be answered.
